Streaming Consciousness: Odds & Ends

But mostly odds, because I am. Odd, that is.
C'mon, now, you knew that about me already., like, I haven't had a cigarette since about 4:35pm, Monday, August 19, 2013. Prior to that, I'd smoked for about 26 years. On the bright side, the antidepressant I'm on is also prescribed, in lower doses, for help with smoking cessation. On the dark side (my favorite), there have been moments when I feel I shoulda been strapped up like my good friend Monty Burns, over to the right. And not just for the kink factor, either. Anyway, I've already seen some good results (food tastes better, Yay!) and some bad (I've been carb-craving like a MoFo, Booo!). I didn't say anything about this sooner 'cause whenever I try to do something like this and blab about it, I always crap out. But so far, so good...

...took The Kid back up to skewl for his second year of college. Dang. Second year of college. Wow. I mentioned a few months ago that I'm mostly over Empty Nest Syndrome. It should be noted, though, that the remnants of ENS manifest as a desperate need to feed people, along with me tossing out stuff like, "You're not going out in this weather without a coat?!" Which everybody loves...

...I've set my release date my debut fantasy romance novel, That Fatal Kiss, for

SEPTEMBER 24, 2013
W00T, W00T, W0000000000T!

The e-book, anyway. I want to have a paperback available for folks who don't cotton to books in digital, but that may be somewhat delayed. (The best laid plans of mice and men...)

Meanwhile, if you'd like to read a sexy excerpt from That Fatal Kiss, click here. Or check out this interview of my heroine, Persephone, and hero, Hades, the Lady and Lord of the ancient Greek Underworld.

Stop by on release day and enter a comment for your chance to win a free copy of the e-book! And don't forget to spread the word!

  1. Congratulations on starting down that road named I Quit Smoking! I know you can do it. Why? Because you're a badass, duh. I'm looking forward to holding your book in my hands, okay on my iPad. Whatever. Yay, you!

  2. Good for you for quitting smoking!!! I read your excerpt and am off to take a cold shower, and I imagine that was one of the tamer moments of your book!!! *fans self*

  3. Sometimes it's a good thing to be a quitter! Glad you're putting down the cigs, I know it can be hard but like Sara said, you can do it because 'you're a badass.' (: And I can't wait to get a hold of your book!

  4. Congratulations on giving up the cigarettes. Not an easy thing to do from what I hear. I gave up coffee right about the same time. I'm feeling calmer. I thought I would sleep better, but not so much.

Good luck on your release. I'm sure it will be great.

  5. You can do it! Although, I still miss them once in awhile. My son is using that vapor cigarette, he's tried several times to quit. I hope he does it time. No addiction is easy to quit - but yeah, you're a badass! You've got it!

Funny how we choose some of the most stressful times (a book coming out) to make other major changes. But on the upside - doing it while on top is the best time! Cause lady you are going places! Onward and upward!
I just re-read your excerpt again, and yeah need a fan! Go get-em! And please tell me you're going to do the kissing blogfest - I need another fix of Hades and Persephone!

  6. I can't wait to read this book. It sounds completely awesome.

  7. Congrats on on not smoking! I'm so proud of you!

Wow... I think I'll lose my shit when my kids go to college. Actually... I really will lose my shit. Totally

  8. Excellent job on the non smoking! It's so hard to do. I am also carb craving, with no really good reason other than ice cream tastes really good and I only have two precious weeks left until my ice cream place down the street closes for season.

  9. Lucky me, I've never started smoking, because I've heard it's a bitch to quit.

    Best of luck! Stay strong.

  10. Well done on the giving up smoking. Been there, wore the t shirt, ate the t shirt, ate everything else as well but came through it alive, though a little bitchier.

  11. Great news on being off cigarettes for so long. I smoked for 12 years before quitting. It's a bitch, but totally worth it.

Hooray for release dates! Can't wait to check this out.

If you're looking to promo, shoot me an email and I'll have you over at my blog to do an author interview for the release. You'll have to run the gauntlet of the Sea Monkey S.A.T. portion of the interview, though! (Not that I have very many people who publicly admit to following my blog.)

  12. Thanks, so very much, for all your encouraging words. I'm still holding strong on not smoking, though it pains me to think about it too much. Meanwhile, I've gained, like, six freakin' pounds (and it's not like I'm not already well-padded). Gah.

@Tonja - You gave up CAWFEEEEEEE????? ::swoons::

@Yolanda - I reckon I missed the boat on the kissing blogfest, alas. But to tell you the truth, I'm a little blogfested-out! :-)

@Juli - it's so weird, the cravings our bodies put us through, eh??? Still, ice cream!!! :-D

@Juliette - LOL! Amazingly, I didn't feel irritable until just this week, which is difficult to manage at work! (Well, I've been coping with carbs, which has kept me quiet, at least.) :-)

@Ava - You intrigue me with your talk of Sea Monkey S.A.T.s!

C'mon, post a comment. All the cool kids do.
