But youse ain't the only winners in the house, yo. Since I quit smoking in August, I've saved up quite a bit of coin. That is, I saved only long enough to treat myself, bit by bit, to keep myself on the non-smoking wagon. Here's the loot I've scored with the monies saved by not smoking:

Acer Chromebook

A slew of stuffs from Brighton Collectibles

Andie Soft Shoulderbag

Apollo Key Fob

Intrigue Reversible Necklace

And finally, a new "mini-makeup bag" and "wallet" for my new handbag!

Coin Purse & All in One Crossbody in Canterberry Magenta

Now, before I hear the gnashing of teeth and cries of envy, I need to point out that these came to me after much suffering in the name of being smoke-free. Also, I'd rather be up close and personal with the man of my dreams, but since these are all I can cuddle up to, I shall. Cuddle up to them, that is. Anyway, yay me, for staying strong. Fingers crossed I can maintain my abstinence from cigarettes for the long haul.

*The drawing for the three $20 Amazon Gift Cards was conducted via Random.org.

    1. It sure does, given how much cigarettes cost in NY!

  3. Congratulations to the winners and to you for your hard work of staying smoke free. It's amazing to think how much money it costs to smoke. At $10 a pack, a one pack a day habit is $70 a week x 52 weeks which is math I can't do without a calculator. Well done!!! Nice swag too....you deserve it!

    1. $10.75 in NY suburbs; close to $14 in some places in NYC, and yeah, no matter how you slice it, it's a LOT of money! :-)

    1. Thanks, Yolanda. How much do smokes cost in your neck of the woods? I saved something like $40ish dollars a week, but heavier smokers make get to $500 faster than I did. But the thing is, person really needs to want to quit to have a hope in hell of making it stick.

  25. Congratulations on smoke-free living and keep it up. There's the added bonus of skipping out on all that yummy lung-cancer, too! That is some serious swag purchased with your smoke money, though. A friend of mine did the same and bought a car at the end of the year, so, if nothing else, it's proof it's one costly hobby. Seriously, well done, I know it's a hard habit to kick.

  28. I'm so so SO impressed you stopped smoking! And saved so much money you got a new laptop. WOW! I need to stop smoking, too. But every time I decide to cut back, I find myself smoking more because of the stress of trying to cut back. I'm pitiful...

  29. You go girl! I used to love smoking and I actually have the best memories of those years. Then a very close aunt died of cancer and I just couldn't do it anymore. I stopped cold turkey and never felt a bit of anxiety over it. I'm now on my eighth year. My mother also stopped but for her it was a struggle. She's now five years without a smoke. I know you can do it, and so far you are doing a great job. Keep treating yourself, you deserve it!

  30. @Lexa - I should clarify - the Chromebook's a laptop-lite. It doesn't accommodate lots of software, not even MS Office, 'cause it's a Google product, so if you want to do word processing or spreadsheets, or whatevs, you have to use Google Drive. It cost $200. Also, you have to really want it to have a hope in hell of successfully quitting, and for 26 years I didn't want it. Plus, my antidepressant really helped with the withdrawal symptoms. That said, it was super hard. When you're ready, you'll totally do it.

@Georgina - I'm so sorry about your aunt. Congrats to you and your mom for quitting. All of you chiming in with your stories about quitting help me stay strong, so thank you all!
