Sparks ~ Five Reasons I Heart New York

You might run into a dude dressed like Spidey at Grand Central, busking so he can pick up some new tights.

You can hang out with Harry Houdini at The Jewish Museum for your 40th birthday. (When he's in town, of course.)

Or you can have a blue Christmas in Times Square...

Though possibly not as blue as this fella from the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA, a few years ago.

But you can always warm yourself up with a spoonful of Stephen, as seen on this poster on a dumpster near NYU.

All pictures above are mine, mine, all mine.

  1. Isn't it amazing all the different "weird" things you can see in the streets of New York?!

  2. cool that - can't believe I haven't been to NYC since being in the US, although I went there before that. The energy is addictive - that and the bars..

    1. That Spidey pic's a bit blurry 'cause he was moving his arms to shoot webs at me. (Not a euphemism.) :-)

    1. Dude, I forgot all about the Naked Cowboy! (Whose name's a misnomer, as he's not fully naked. Thank God.) :-)

    1. I can't remember when I took that Spidey pic, unfortunately. If it was summer time then it must've been quite hot indeed, as the subway systems can really roast up. I rarely see the Naked Cowboy dude and rarely think about him...it amuses me that he's come up twice on the comments, here. :-)

  6. Awesome pics! I have never been to New York, but I love the eclectic blend of the weird and wild. I do really want to visit!

But ummm... not to live there -- too expensive and, like in a relationship, things that seem quirky and humorous when new become annoying and irritating with too much exposure. ;^)

And who's the hottie next to Harry? ;^)

    1. I'm with you about too much NY not being a great thing. I live in the 'burbs, which takes the edge off. Though I suppose I could be ok living in a nice, quiet neighborhood on Manhattan Island. Though it's stupidly expensive to live there, indeed. And thanks for the compliment. :-)

  7. Fabulous pictures! I love seeing stuff like that. Recently, our town has done an art project with brains. Yeah, brains. Big brain statues in various spots around town. There's a knitted one downtown and a blue swirly one near one of the parks I frequent.

    1. Hilarious - they're really taking the whole zombie apocalypse thing seriously over there, eh? Are the fake brains meant to distract the reanimated so that the townsfolk can make a break for it??? ;-) I'd love to see some pics of these on *your* blog!
